Different Types of Depression or Emotional Disorders

Depression is an emotional disorder encompassing many different types of such disorders. Certain characteristics are same in the different types of depression but the way these disorders affect the sufferer's life is vastly different. To find the right treatment, one must understand and know the different types of this disorder. Depending on the intensity of the symptoms, the duration of the symptoms and the specific causes, the diagnosis and treatment of the different disorders are done. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), a publication by the American Psychiatric Association, describes the symptoms of the different types of depressive or emotional disorders.

Genetic and biochemical factors play a significant role in causing depression. Environmental, psychological, social and stress factors are equally responsible for it. Women are affected by depression at least two times more than men.

The common symptoms of depression are irritability, a feeling of hopelessness or sadness, social withdrawal, changes in sleep and appetite patterns, a fear of rejection, fatigue and problems in concentrating. Suicidal tendencies can also develop. None of these disorders are caused by any medication or drug. Among the main emotional or psychiatric disorders are major depressive disorders, dysthymic disorder and manic depression or bipolar disorder.

Major depressive disorder or clinical depression has symptoms lasting every day for at least two weeks. These symptoms can be a depressed or sad mood, an absence of interest or pleasure in any activity, change in weight and appetite, sleeping problems, fatigue, a sustained mental tension and a feeling of worthlessness. Many people suffering from this disorder try to commit suicide.

People suffering from dysthymia or dysthymic disorder have a sad mood constantly for two years but it is less severe than major depression. One can notice a change in weight and appetite, sleeping problems, feeling of hopelessness and concentration problems.

Bipolar disorder includes periods of mania and depression. This interchange can be quite rapid. A manic episode consists of an extremely happy or sad mood lasting for a week. Other symptoms include too much of self-importance, insomnia, talkativeness, distraction and involvement in risky behavior like sexual adventures or spending uncontrollably. Sometimes, this disorder can get quite serious warranting hospitalization to prevent harm to self or others.

Among the other types of depression are post partum depression (occurring after having a baby), seasonal affective disorder (a disorder recurring at a specific time of the year), anxiety depression (panic attacks and social phobia), atypical depression (a temporary improvement in mood), chronic depression (sad mood lasts for about two years), double depression (an individual suffers from both dysthymia and a major depressive episode) and endogenous depression (feeling sad for no reason).

Treatment of all kinds of depression depends on the severity of the symptoms and the choice of the patient. The usual methods of treatment include antidepressants, psychotherapy or a combination of both. Psychotherapy is used in treating mild cases of depression. Severe depression needs both the treatments. Medicines help to get relief from physical ailments and therapy teaches effective methods to deal with problems. Sometimes it is necessary to continue with both medicines and therapy sessions to prevent recurrence of the depressive symptoms.

Premature Ejaculation Treatment

A simple exercise that facilitates premature ejaculation treatment.

Here is a simple exercise that goes a long way towards premature ejaculation treatment. Last week we spoke about the PC muscle and how it is one of the greatest secrets a man can know. This week we give you exercises to strengthen it!

You can strengthen it by doing the following exercises:

PC Hold:

Contract the PC muscle as if you were holding back urination in mid-stream. Hold it and count to three then release. Make sure the muscle completely relaxes before your next contraction. Hold it again, then release. Draw it up now while you are reading this book. Hold, count to three and release. Do this at least twenty times in your first session.

You can build up to whatever is comfortable for you. I suggest you commit yourself to five minutes on the way to work and five minutes while traveling home. You can do this while you are sitting or standing, walking or resting. It may assist you if you combine it with the breath. Breathe in as you contract a muscle, hold your breath and contraction for a count of three, and then make an extra strong contraction. Next release the muscle and the breath together. Do twenty cycles at a time.

If after a week of practice you experience any soreness, take it easy. It's like any other muscle, if you overdo it in the early stages, it can become tender.

Just because you can thrust for an hour does not make you a fine lover. What's more important is the time you and your partner take to absorb the energy, fully awaken all your senses and build up the feelings of passion and intimacy.

Muscle Power Diets

Where do you think muscles come from? Is muscle power the child of a vigorous gym workout? Or is there than meets the eye? When you see all those muscular people pumping iron at the gym, you only see half of the picture. What you don't see is what those power houses have running in their blood stream. I'm talking about the nutrients. Muscle building is a war that is either half won or totally lost on the dinner table. This article discusses how you can, and should, eat to enhance your muscle power.

1. Eat 6 Meals a Day: when your building muscle you can't let your body stay deprived of nutrition for long periods of time or it will begin storing fat, thinking that it's starving. Giving the body a healthy 6 meals a day lets it know that there is abundance of nutrition and it need not store fat, rather build muscle. The rest of the stimulus comes from your workout in the gym.

2. Eat More Calories: incase you're wondering whether you'll be eating more calories when you take up the 6 meal schedule, the answer is 'YES'. When you eat for muscle, you eat differently then you o for weight loss. Your body needs energy to carry out the intense gym routines and it needs energy as well as nutrients to build the muscle. The simple rule of thumb goes...'eat more calories than your likely to burn in a day'.

3. Increase Protein: muscle building is the outcome of protein syntheses. Proteins are the riches and easiest source of amino acids, the building blocks of nature. When your building muscle, your body needs a high protein diet, as high as 50 percent of your total diet. Get protein from white meat such as chicken and fish. If you still feel that you're not getting results, try adding some red meat in there too. Taking a protein based meal 30 minutes earlier than a workout ensures that your body has a healthy supply of energy and amino acids when the workout is over.

4. Carbohydrates: while cutting down on carbs is a good thought if you're loosing weight; you need the carbs when you build muscle. Muscle building workouts burn the glycogen stored in the body. The glycogen is the outcome of carbs your body converted into energy. Whenever you eat a carbohydrate, it is broken down into sugars that end up in the blood stream. These sugars turn into glycogen, which is like the storage facility for the body's energy. Make carbs about 40% of your diet.

5. Fats: fats are not the enemy, eating surplus and not having ay place to expend all the energy is. Your body requires an exact amount of fat for its normal functioning. This fat of course does not mean the greasy junk food and fast food that has become the brand ambassador for the poor nutrient. The kind of fat that you should be taking is found in olive and avocadoes. Concentrate on getting the maximum unsaturated fats because these are good for both your arteries and heart. You should also take a small quantity of saturated fats because they help the testosterone levels. All in all fats should take up about 15-20% of your diet.

Keep in mind that your diet will be the deciding factor in how successful your weight loss program is.
